Summary

Located approximately 84km north-west of the Abu Dhabi islands, the Upper Zakum Oilfield is the 4th largest oilfield in the world, producing 640,000 barrels of oil per day.

In 2015, the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) used Zinga as the system of repairing damaged grating, pipes and HVAC frames which were previously treated by hot-dip galvanization. 

The surface was degreased and cleaned before ZINGA was applied by brush and aerosol (using ZINGA Spray) to approx. 150 μm DFT. This afforded ADNOC the ability to repair the damaged galvanized areas without having to either dismantle the structure and transport for re-galvanization or installing new components, both of which result in significant downtime.

Metro System Baseplates

Summary

Baseplate corrosion was a common issue faced by Singapore Metro operator, SBS Transit, cause by ponding water as a result of leakages in the metro tunnels. Historically, corroded baseplates were scrapped and replaced with brand new infrastructure, requiring an innovative solution to reduce wastage and optimise the lifetime of the baseplates.

ZINGA provided a unique opportunity to eliminate this wastage. Now, corroded baseplates are run through an auto blast machine using angular metallic abrasives in order to prepare the surface for ZINGA treatment.

The baseplates are then ZINGAnized using an airless spray gun. Two coats of 60𝝻 of ZINGA are applied to the surface before the plates are dried, re-assembled and packed ready to be reinstalled in the metro system. Watch the video below to see the whole process in action.

Wulai Hydro Power Plant

Summary

The Wulai Hydro Power Plant, owned by Taipower, is located in the North of Taiwan. The steel structures were starting to corrode and needed urgent repairs.

By end of 2020, Envirolink Corporation, the Taiwanese ZINGA Distributor, received the order to totally refurbish the steel structures of this power plant with the ZINGA stand-alone system. The surface preparation works started in April 2021, but were stopped during the flood control period, and finally delivered in February 2022.

To prepare the surface, the steel was sandblasted to SA2.5. Three coats of ZINGA were applied to 60 µm DFT.

Steel parts and light poles for the Standard Gauge Railway

Summary

The new 1,475km Standard Gauge Railway runs from Dar Es Salaam to Mwanza, connecting Tanzania with Rwanda and Uganda. The project costs 7.5 billions US$.

Substations along the railway line feed the railway with electricity. At each substation, a concrete wall is built around large transformer to collect eventual oil leakages of the transformer via buried pipes and steel collectors. Our Tanzanian Zinga distributor, TRACTO, was contracted to coat the steel components of this system, together with light poles set to be installed at various railway stations along the route.

TRACTO clean blasted a set of steel parts with river sand to SE 2.5 degree with an average Rz of 60µm. One 60 µm DFT coat of Zinga and two 100 µm DFT coats of Zingatarfree MIO were applied to the outside of each steel piece, and one 60 µm DFT coat of Zinga and one 80-100 µm DFT coat of Zingaceram HS to the inside.

125 light poles were primed with Zinga before being topcoat with ALU ZM or Zingalu.
